Spring Devo Mountain Bike Program

Ages 10-14+*; Coed

Program Info:

For riders of all skill levels who are ready for more. More fun, more skill building, more fitness and more appreciation for the sport. Designed to develop confidence and ability through riding with peers in a supportive environment centered around respect. Explore new places outdoors, grow as an athlete and as an individual in a positive atmosphere. Groups are structured by age and ability. For girls only devo groups, check out this page.

*Devo is similar to the previous skills program, with an expanded age range. All those previously in this program, including outside the stated age range, are encouraged to participate as we'll have similar groups across ages and abilities.

Practice Schedule & Locations:

  • Spring session dates: Weeks of March 31-May 12, 2025 (no practice on Easter Sunday)

  • Two days per week: Wednesday & Sunday practices

  • Weeknight practices are held within Fort Collins and the greater area, including Lory State Park, Horsetooth Mountain Park, etc. and will be approximately 90 minutes

  • Weekend practices may be held at locations outside of the Fort Collins area, including as far as e.g. Valmont Bike Park & Curt Gowdy State Park and are approximately two hours.

  • Practices are held on singletrack trails, bike skills parks, other parks/grass, paved trails, gravel and other hard surfaces, both when weather is inclement and otherwise at the discretion of group coaches. It’s all about being on bikes together!

  • Riders can expect 10+ mile rides with climbing demands

Riders must:

  • Have motivation to mountain bike with group of friends/teammates, based on the noted mileage and climbing

  • Have a mountain bike with at least 24” wheels, gears and handbrakes (front suspension is highly recommended for safety reasons). It is your responsibility to ensure your rider's bike is safe and operable prior to the start of the program.

  • Have a safe, properly fitted helmet, gloves, and weather-appropriate clothing, including a raincoat and layers when appropriate + a way to carry these items as well as a spare tube, multi-tool and a pump or CO2.

  • Weather can be variable and it is critical that riders have proper gear or they will not be able to ride.

  • Be attentive & respectful to the environment, other trail users, their peers, and coaches at all times, including in areas where groups congregate before and after practice

  • Be ready to have fun with others on bikes, and otherwise!

  • Riders are encouraged to attend races along with the team/other programs, if they are interested, but this is not required or expected
